DESCRIPTION:We’re taking advantage of the sunny summer weather and bringing our solar telescopes out each week this summer! Our expert staff will guide you through safe solar observing while teaching you about our closest star. Please note: solar observing will be canceled in case of clouds or rain. \n\n\n\nSolar safety \n\n\n\n\nOur telescope equipment utilizes safe Sun viewing methods; filtering the sunlight and projecting the sunlight.\n\n\n\nSolar filters include white light filters that block 99.999 percent of incoming sunlight\, safely allowing us to see any sunspots that might be visible.\n\n\n\nH-alpha SolarMax II telescope filters out all the colors of sunlight except a specific red light (656nm) to allow us to see features such as solar prominences along the edge of the Sun.\n\n\n\nSunspotters use a different method to safely view the Sun. They utilize mirrors and lenses to project the Sun safely onto a screen (piece of paper). You can draw/trace your own Sun and sunspots to start your own solar data log.\n\n\n\n\nFind additional solar observing dates at the Bell Museum \n\n\n\nSolar observing \n\n\n\nSolar Observing is an in-person event at the Bell Museum and is included in the cost of regular admission.

SUMMARY:Solar Observing
DESCRIPTION:We’re taking advantage of the sunny summer weather and bringing our solar telescopes out each week this summer! Our expert staff will guide you through safe solar observing while teaching you about our closest star. Please note: that solar observing will be canceled in case of clouds or rain. \n\n\n\nSolar safety \n\n\n\nSunspotters use a different method to safely view the Sun. They utilize mirrors and lenses to project the Sun safely onto a screen (piece of paper). You can draw/trace your own Sun and sunspots to start your own solar data log. \n\n\n\nOur telescope equipment utilizes safe Sun viewing methods; filtering the sunlight and projecting the sunlight. \n\n\n\nSolar filters include white light filters that block 99.999 percent of incoming sunlight\, safely allowing us to see any sunspots that might be visible. \n\n\n\nH-alpha SolarMax II telescope filters out all the colors of sunlight except a specific red light (656nm) to allow us to see features such as solar prominences along the edge of the Sun. \n\n\n\nSolar Observing is an in-person event at the Bell Museum and is included in the cost of regular admission.

DESCRIPTION:Event Information\n\n\n\nSaint Paul Brewing resides within the former stables\, carpentry shop\, and keg wash house of the original Hamm’s Brewery. Only one hundred breweries survived Prohibition and Hamm’s was not only one of them\, but it grew to be the fifth largest brewery in the nation after Prohibition was repealed. Come on the tour of Saint Paul Brewing and learn the fascinating history including the story of how William Hamm Jr. was kidnapped for ransom\, and what happened such that this campus of massive buildings is no longer where Hamm’s is brewed.Tours are $15 per person and include a can of Hamm’s beer\, craft samples brewed by Saint Paul Brewing\, and a pint of choice at the end of the tour. Tour groups are limited to 20 people at a time\, thus the importance of booking your reservation in advance. Tours are guided by Jimmy Keebs\, who started working on site for the former Flat Earth Brewing and wrote this tour spanning the history of Theo Hamm Brewing Co\, Pabst\, Olympia\, and Stroh Brewing Co. here on site to the present day of Saint Paul Brewing. SUMMARY:Home School Field Trip at Base Camp
DESCRIPTION:Each field trip will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 2:00 PM. This year we are also adding a half day Pre K program from 9:00 am – 12:00pm\, an adult partner is required for the Pre K program. Check-in begins at 8:45 AM and pre-registration is strongly encouraged in guaranteeing your spot in the program. Parents or adults may register at no cost to observe the activities throughout the day\, but are not required to remain onsite. For adults dropping youth off\, we request that you accompany your children into the building for check-in (please do not let them walk up on their own). All youth participating in the program must have a waiver form signed by their parent or guardian (separate forms for each youth and each program). Participants must wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing – dressing for the weather if your program includes outdoor activities. In addition\, we recommend bringing a water bottle\, bag lunch and a snack if desired. \n\n\n\nFollowing each of the field trips\, students have the option of staying for an additional open climb and archery session from 2:00-4:00 PM at a cost of $5.00/participant. \n\n\n\nStandard fee $20.00 per student. \n\n\n\nPre K is $10.00 per student. \n\n\n\nAdult partners are free.
