MINNESOTA ZOO | New – Red Panda Forest

Have you heard? Red pandas are at the Minnesota Zoo! Red Panda Forest, an exciting, new habitat along the Minnesota Zoo’s Northern Trail, opened to guests in summer 2025. But red pandas aren’t the only new faces in town.

Red pandas, tufted deer and red-crowned cranes share a state-of-the-art shared habitat that mirrors their natural ecosystems in our new Red Panda Forest exhibit. Located on the Northern Trail (across from the Conservation Carousel) within an Asian inspired pavilion Red Panda Forest debuts summer 2025 at the Minnesota Zoo and is included with zoo admission.

Red pandas are an endangered species native to the high-altitude forests of the Himalayas and red-crowned cranes and tufted deer dwell in similar habitats. With triple the recommended space for red pandas living in human care, Red Panda Forest also provides ample room for tufted deer to run and weave through trees and a large wading pond for red-crowned cranes to take a mid-day dip.

Discounted group rates (15+) and field trip rates (8+ youth) are available to experience this new exhibit and all that the Minnesota Zoo offers. Book your group visit today!
