HISTORICAL EXPERIENCES | A REVOLUTIONARY EXPERIENCE for all!

An exciting way to commemorate the 250th Birthday of America. Invite a soldier from George Washington’s Continental Army to your school to teach your students all about the war which gave birth to our great nation.

This lyceum is interactive. Your students will experience dramatizations of events that led to the American Revolution. These dramatizations will have your students portraying people that played key roles in the Revolution. Some will be Royal Officials and Customs Agents, some will be Sons of Liberty harassing the Royal Officials. Some will play British Soldiers, while others portray patriotic citizens of Boston. They will learn about the Boston Massacre by actually reenacting what really happened on that cold winter night in March of 1770. By reenacting the event, students can then decide whether it was truly a massacre of innocent citizens or an act of self-defense by British soldiers who feared for their lives. This is learning by doing. Living history makes history come alive for your students.

We are the field trip that comes to you. All that is required of you is to reserve a venue a space in which the presentation will take place. This may be an auditorium, an activity room, a gymnasium or any other space that is large enough to accommodate your students.

Their are two presentation options to choose from. A full-day or half-day presentation.

The full day presentation is entitled THE BIRTH OF A NATION: THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION.
If you choose the full-day experience, your students will spend the morning learning all about the events that led up to the Revolution. They would break for lunch/recess and then come back in the afternoon to learn all about the typical soldier of the Revolution. They will learn about the differences between militia soldiers and Continental soldiers. They will also see, first hand, the uniforms, gear and equipment the soldiers carried and used in the war. At the end of the day, they will become Continental Soldiers and they will all learn Gen. Von Stueben’s Drill. In other words they will be trained as Revolutionary War soldiers and learn the same tactics using wooden cut-out replicas of Revolutionary War flintlocks.

The half-day presentation is entitled SOLDIERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION.
Because of the time constraints, this presentation spends less time on causes of the Revolution. We spend more time learning about the Soldiers of the Revolution. We end this presentation with students, again, taking on the role of Continental Soldiers learning Von Steuben’s Drill.

Both presentations are very popular with students of all ages.
