ASI’s 75th Annual Holiday Exhibition, Tomte Tales: Legends of Winter, transforms the castle into Tomte the Swedish gnome’s magical realm. Discover the legends of holiday icons and Nordic folklore creatures.
The American Swedish Institute (ASI) is delighted to announce its 75th annual holiday celebration, Tomte Tales: Legends of Winter, on view November 8–January 25. This beloved Minnesota tradition invites guests to explore Nordic-inspired programs, experience the holiday exhibition in the historic Turnblad Mansion, savor seasonal food, and shop the ASI Jul Store and one of the region’s largest holiday handcraft markets.
This year, the Turnblad Mansion transforms into a storybook winter wonderland—guided by Tomte himself, building upon Tomte’s debut in ASI’s 2024-2025 holiday exhibition. Guests will experience Tomte’s story and see the season through his eyes, meeting his friends along the way and uncovering the folklore behind animal companions, Lucia, Krampus, the Julbock, Santa, reindeer, and more.
“Seventy-five years of holiday magic at ASI is really special,” said Joe Imholte, Vice President of Experience at ASI. “We can’t wait to welcome families, friends, ASI members, and first-time visitors to share in the joy and memories that have made this celebration such a cherished part of Minnesota’s holiday season.”
