VÄLKOMMEN TO THE AMERICAN SWEDISH INSTITUTE!

Be inspired. Discover wonder. Create memories.
The American Swedish Institute (ASI) is a must-see vibrant arts, museum and cultural center that engages locally and connects globally. Don’t miss exploring the historic Turnblad Mansion, the only “Castle” in the Twin Cities, listed on the National Register of Historic Places! This 33-room limestone, French-Château masterpiece was completed in 1908 by Swedish immigrant and newspaper publisher Swan Turnblad as a home for him, his wife Christina and daughter Lillian, and donated in 1929 to become what is now the ASI. The Mansion houses acclaimed and frequently changing international and local art exhibitions, as well as the beloved annual Nordic holiday rooms – all available to view on special tours. With the 2012 addition of the modern Nelson Cultural Center, the campus expanded to include the new Osher Gallery, the ASI Museum Store and the award-winning Fika Café. Our own Slate and Stone catering can provide the perfect meal for your group excursion. Whether you are visiting for the first time or have made American Swedish Institute a regular destination, private group tours are an excellent way to discover even more about our campus, collections and exhibitions. Bring your group of 10 or more people to visit ASI’s awe-inspiring campus that boasts the best of the old and the new:
