The Jay C. Hormel Nature Center is excited to announce their newest addition at the Interpretive Center! Cedar – The Great Horned Owl.
A visit to the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center is more than just a few displays! Fun and interactive exhibits with live animals, touch tables, puzzles and games, a play area, and more! Learn about the local history, the wildlife, and the story of the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center. The Interpretive Center is free! Snake handling is at 10:00 am and 3:30 pm on most days.
During the summer, visitors can rent canoes and kayaks for use on the pond and Dobbins Creek! Exploring on the water is a great way to experience the Nature Center and to see wildlife you might miss while walking the trails. When the snow arrives, the Nature Center rents cross-country ski equipment as well as snowshoes.
The Jay C. Hormel Nature Center features over 500 acres of prairie, forests, and wetlands.Keep eyes and ears open for many kinds of wildlife as you explore the 9+ miles of trails!

Thanks to funding from the State of Minnesota’s Environmental and Natural Resources Trust Fund and the Friends of the Hormel Nature Center, we are now able to host more environmental education programs for schools outside of the Austin.
