Bring your group to the Wildlife Science Center this spring for an up-close look at amazing wildlife including wolves, bobcats, cougars, raptors and other wildlife.
Spring has arrived at the Wildlife Science Center making it the perfect time to observe our amazing wildlife. All of our ambassador animals are enjoying the warmer temperatures after a long winter. The Wildlife Science Center is home to the largest population of wolves in any facility in North America. WSC is also home to black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, fox, coyotes, reptiles, and birds of prey. Each program unlocks the fascinating lessons offered by the chance to observe a pack of wolves, a group of bears, and our amazing raptors.
Every visit to the Wildlife Science Center provides an opportunity to learn about our resident animals. Participants observe the variety of species/ subspecies of wolves in their family packs, displaying adaptive behavior and complex communication. Other wildlife diversifies the experience showing the different skills and adaptations to climate and method of food acquisition.
WSC is also home to a collection of meso-predators including raccoons, red and gray fox, and coyotes. Their existence alongside a top predator like the wolf demonstrates a series of adaptive strategies that involves both hunting and being hunted. Reptiles and amphibians decorate Minnesota’s landscape and are part of WSC programming as well. In addition, WSC is home to birds of prey – hawks, owls, and falcons – which are interconnected to the complex predator system of the wild.
