The Austin Symphony Orchestra performance in March will feature pianist-Osip Nikiforov. This season is celebrating the Year of the Piano, and this performance begins the ASO’s celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.
The symphony’s performance on March 8th will feature Osip Nikiforov, a rising star in the piano world, will perform American composer Florence Price’s Piano Concerto. The ASO will also perform music by American Margaret Bonds and British composer Ethyl Smith. The winner of numerous awards, Nikiforov has been called “A musically gifted pianist with intelligence and great technique.”

Osip Nikiforov is a Siberian pianist who studied under the tutelage of world-renowned pianists – Alexander Braginsky, Yefim Bronfman, and Jon Kimura Parker. He is also a Third Prize winner of 2016 San Antonio International Piano Competition. In 2024, he recorded a series of folk tale inspired piano pieces for children by the Ukrainian composer Aida Isakova, which was broadcast nationally on Minnesota Public Radio and is now available online as the Folk Classics from Across the Globe radio special. Osip is regularly invited to perform at concert series and festivals, including the Minnesota Orchestra Summer Festival, the Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, and the Mozart Festival Texas. Osip Nikiforov has also frequently collaborated with national and international orchestras, including the St. Petersburg Capella Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, and Khakass Philharmonic.
